decor inspiration: quilts as wall art

I love the idea of hanging a beautiful handmade quilt as wall art, and I’ve been thinking of this idea to cover an empty wall in my dining area for a while. (It’s like the woven wall hanging trend on a larger scale.) Quilts have a gorgeous artisanal quality and can be neutral or colourful, geometric or abstract. Read on to find a few of my favourite designs.

Toronto-based Lindsay Stead‘s latest Collection Quilts are made in collaboration with a group of quilters in rural Ontario. Linday’s graphic modern designs are rooted in this traditional technique, making for a one-of-a-kind piece of art.

This gorgeous Constellation Quilt is made by Brooklyn-based Haptic Labs. Check out its Coastal and City Quilts. Haptic Labs also creates custom City Quilts  (think the small town you grew up in, or your favourite neighbourhood in your current city).

VK Made quilts are bright and cheerful – perfect for perking up a nursery or kids’ room.
