Holiday Gift Guide – Glamour Within Reach

I always approach gift giving as somewhat of a treasure hunt. But finding that special something for that special someone – and staying on budget – is not always an easy task. I love finding small gems, sometimes literally like these agate arrowhead napkin rings by Mapleton Drive. These are definitely one of my absolute favorite items that I have come across this holiday season. They are guaranteed to elevate any table setting. A set of four will cost you $99 US.

You cannot go wrong with pairing a set of these chiseled flutes with a bottle of Veuve Clicquot. The heavy chiseled base is finished in gold. A set of four will cost you about $100. Available online at

For the design junkie that is obsessed with Kelly Wearstler (aren’t we all though) the mini head trip keychain is guaranteed to please. This burnished 22K gold key chain by Kelly Wearstler may just be what you need to ensure you will never misplace your keys. This gift is a bit of a splurge with a price tag of $175 US.

I’m a fan of punchy art and while you might argue that art is too personal to gift, I say there are just some pieces out there that you know your friends will love. This piece called “Catwalk” by Francesco Formisano makes a statement in a room yet its simplicity would not overpower an environment. Prints start at $60 and are available for purchase online at Citizen Atelier.

I’m definitely a fan of the combination of edgy and whimsical, especially when it takes a bit of a walk on the dark side. So when Royal Doulton decided to bring street art to the home I could not be more elated by the news. The Street Art collection by Royal Doulton brings china collecting to whole new level. Pure Evil Bunny Fingers is shown here and retails for $65. This entire collection is nothing short of amazing. To check out more of this collection click here.

Curios are intriguing and when they are presented in a playful way they become irresistible. I love these handmade wax curiosities. They are perfumed with real botanicals! The presentation makes them perfect for display in a powder room. Buy them online at – where you can also find a really impressive variety of fun affordable gifts that ooze personality!

And finally who can resist the playful and elegant pottery of Jonathan Adler. The gold carnaby zebra stacking dish is the perfect catch-all for a front entry console. File this under “glamour within reach” with its price tag sitting at $32 US.

christmas market right at home

Hello Tuesday! How was your first weekend of December?  The mild weather and my visits to the Christmas Market in Toronto and Kitchener have inspired me to create my very own Christmas Market.  That’s right, if you have a balcony, you too can create a festive, whimsical, and cozy outdoor oasis to treat yourself this holiday season.

If you are like me, my planters have gone all “natural” since the mums were planted in the fall.  They gave me lots of flowers and I loved the fragrance.  Fast forward a couple of months and after a few frosty nights, my balcony looked rather depressing: a far cry from the cozy, festive spirited land of my dreams.

The makeover started with a visit to my local farmer’s market to pick up the freshly cut and oh-so-fragrance winter greens for my planters.  I have never dressed up a planter with fresh greens before (can you believe that?), and the one tip I picked up is to have a good variety of greens for texture and colors.  I have placed the pine and cedar branches at the front for an enchanted feel, while the shorter fir branches at the back add height.  To fill in the gaps in between and for extra colors, I have added my favourite magnolia leaves for pops of glossy green + velvety orange.

For extra sparkles (and of course I just need another reason to use these ornaments), I made these DIY planter delights in less than 5 minutes.  The overall DIY project costs me around $15 but they look like a million buck!

Ready to see all the finishing details? Welcome to my very Christmas market!

I love how cozy it feels and what’s more perfect than having a basket filled with gorgeous pillows and blankets?

Here are my key building blocks:

  • wreath on wooden screen to enhance the holiday vibe
  • good assortment of greens for fantastic visual interests
  • luxe ornaments (these shatterproof ornaments are perfect for outdoor applications)
  • joyful palette & stylish statement with the plaid pillow and holly berry branches

Hope you are inspired to add a festive touch to your outdoor space! As for me, it’s time for me to start writing my Christmas cards.
