Women in stone united

In 2014, an excited group of women met at a gathering during Coverings, which was sponsored by Polycor, to officially launch Women in Stone (WIS). “Women in Stone’s mission is to recruit, retain and advance women in the natural stone industry,” says Sarah B Gregg, Women in Stone administrator.

Preserving stonework of an institution

Founded on July 1, 1887, as the result of a bequest by Chicago businessman Walter L. Newberry, the Newberry Library has a long history. In an effort to revitalize the building’s beautiful stone architecture and update its layout to be more visitor friendly, a two-year restoration and renovation project was recently completed.

A fast-moving storm cut across Middle Tennessee, dropping tornadoes that roared up to 165 mph. The disaster took 25 lives and destroyed structures across four counties. Among the devastation, Stone World TN’s business was wiped out in minutes.
